The Grand Avalon, a Grade II listed Victorian theatre on Kensington High Street, had been sold out for weeks. All 1,200 seats were taken. Critics from The Times, The Guardian, and The Telegraph occupied their usual row in the stalls. Two West End producers had flown in from New York specifically for this performance.
